Laija’s luminescent paintings flip back and forth between two alternating color patterns, one hidden behind specially prepared and poured paints that appear only upon application of fluorescent lighting. The other, under standard illumination, depicts otherworldly scenes of mysteriously familiar figures who with sudden breathtaking grace plunge into their new darker surrounding that glows in the presence of previously invisible phosphorescent spirits.
